It takes a village to make a farmers market great! We need your help and want you to be part of the Bremerton Community Farmers Market.

The mission of the Bremerton Community Farmers Market is to operate a community supported farmers market that provides viable economic outlets for farmers and producers, access to locally crafted and farm-fresh products, quality food access for low-income families, and education concerning health, food and sustainable agriculture. Join us as and be a part of this mission!

Volunteers play a crucial role in sustaining and supporting our market. There are so many fun opportunities to help out both during our Thursday market hours and behind the scenes during the week.

Market Day Volunteers

The market needs volunteers on market day to help set up and take down the market, answer questions at the info booth, take photos and more. Shifts can vary in time and length based on volunteer needs, but they will always be on Thursday afternoons and evenings during the market season.

Market day volunteer duties may include: 

​

• Helping with market set-up and tear-down:

  • Moving equipment to and from our nearby park shed.

  • Setting up and taking down the farmers market information, music and programming booths.

  • Assisting vendors with set up and take down of their tents as time allows.

  • Putting out and taking in the market signage.

  • Use your creativity to draw up our chalkboards with the market programs, music and events.

  • Ensure the market is clean before and after operating hours.

• Assisting at the Kid’s Market Bucks Club tent and other special market days and events.

• Working at our market information booth and assisting customers.

Do you love photography? Come take photographs during the market for us! Possibly also participate in special projects to document our vendors and sponsors in their natural habitats as well.

Behind the Scenes Volunteers

​

Behind the scenes volunteer skills needed:

​

• Graphic design: Design posters, logos, and other digital assets for the market. Should be comfortable with using Canva.

• Grant writing: Find grant options, develop drafts for applying to grants, and develop/implement strategies for meeting grant requirements.

• Sponsorship and fundraising: Conduct outreach to local businesses to solicit sponsorships, develop/implement community fundraising concepts, support community donation drives.

• Community outreach: Identify/engage with community organizations, potential vendors, and potential customers. Develop/implement community collaborations.

• Copywriting: Develop content strategies and write clear, concise and engaging content for ads, marketing materials or website especially to highlight our vendors, sponsors, community and market programming.

• Social media: Draft social media posts, develop /implement posting schedules, and create content.

• Web development: Support development needs for our website! SEO, web design, the whole lot.

• Marketing: Grow our reach through a variety of avenues! Admittedly this area has a fair bit of overlap with some of these other needed skills.

• Postering: Distribute our lovely posters and other marketing materials throughout Bremerton and our surrounding communities.

• General Support: There are so many ways to support the market! We're happy to work with anyone who may have ideas for how to help us grow and sustain our market community.
