National Farmers Market Week
This Thursday, August 7th, the Bremerton Community Farmers Market is celebrating National Farmers Market Week! We are also celebrating finally becoming an official nonprofit...which means donations to support the BCFM are totally tax deductible!
Visit our brand-new donation page to learn more about how the market is growing, what we do to keep costs and vendor fees low, and how you can help out with our Summer Fundraiser if you are able!
Thanks to all of you for being a part of this incredible market. Together we are achieving the market's beautiful mission of "operating a community supported farmers market that provides viable economic outlets for farmers and producers, access to locally crafted and farm-fresh products, quality food access for low-income families, and education concerning food, health, and sustainable agriculture.”
Some fun things to do at the market for Farmers Market Week:
The Market Manager will be reading the Farmers Market Week Proclamation from Governor Bob Ferguson at 4pm at the Music Tent.
Stop by and take our four question Dot-Survey and let us know why you visit the Bremerton Community Farmers Market, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
Get your picture taken, or take a selfie, at the Selfie Station, located at the end of the market near Fuentes Fresh Farm, from 4pm to 7pm.
Kids 3 to 12 years of age can participate in a composting activity and see the Red Wiggler Worms at the Kids Market Bucks Club and earn $6 to spend with the farmers, from 4pm to 7pm.
The Bremerton Youth Art Hive will be handing out coloring pages at their booth, from 4pm until supplies run out.
The following vendors are having Farmers Market Week celebration sales:

Music at the Market
This week's Music at the Market features The Kitsap County Ramblers. Bring your chairs, get some dinner and enjoy a PNW band playing "electrified porch music with a down-home, bluesy vibe." Its guaranteed to be a good time! Thanks as always to our generous sponsor the Bremerton Typewriter Company.
Vendor Spotlight at the Market
This Thursday's vendor spotlight is Seabeck Cellars! Seabeck Cellars is a small family-owned and operated boutique winery in Kitsap County specializing in producing high-quality, flavor-forward wines from Washington State. Read about this local business in this article, then visit their booth at our market this Thursday, August 7th, to sample their delicious wines and find your favorite!

Kids Market Bucks Club
The first Thursday of the month is the Kids Market Bucks Club. Kids ages 3-12 are welcome to visit our Kids Tent with a parent or guardian and complete a fun activity designed around healthy living. Once the activity has been completed, we’ll stamp their Kids Market Bucks Club Passport and give them $6 to spend on fresh fruits, veggies, and edible plant starts redeemable with our farm vendors. Kids who complete ALL of the monthly activities will receive a special reward at the end of the season. Passports will be kept at the market, so participants don’t have to remember to bring them back each week.
This week, participants will learn about composting with Kitsap County Public Works - Solid Waste Division and Red Wiggler worms. Come check out all the fun!
Community Booths at the Market
Be sure and stop by one of the many community booths at the market this week:
Bremerton Youth Art Hive - A creative collective for Bremerton’s next generation of Artists!
Kitsap County Public Works - Solid Waste Division - Learn about the garbage, recycling, hazardous waste, and waste prevention programs in Kitsap County.
Kitsap Harvest - Feeding families from front yards, food banks, farms, and...farmers markets. How can you help?
PAWS of Bremerton - Learn about cat adoptions, how to find a veterinarian, and lower price flea treatments.
Wayzgoose Kitsap - Their mission "is to make art more accessible — through our festival, through our year-round programming, and by fostering a movement based on one belief that we all share: We believe that art heals."
WSU Master Gardeners - Volunteers who are actively engaged in teaching research-based gardening and environmental stewardship practices.
Youth Advisory Board (Supported by Kitsap Mental Health & The Coffee Oasis) -This group will have resources, information, baked goods and interactive activities such as bracelet making and coloring books. Their goal is to help spread information and resources to any youth in need.

Looking for ways to get to our market on public transit? Our friends at Kitsap Transit put together this handy guide! Follow them to get their full guide for how to get to our neighboring farmers markets as well!

Park it at the Market
We know finding a spot to park for the market isn't always easy so wanted to share a place to park you might not know about and a few places to watch out for.
Our neighbors just a couple blocks away on Park street, Kitsap Community Resources (KCR), have very graciously allowed parking in their lot after 4:30pm. We greatly appreciate their generosity to us and our community where they do so much for so many!
CJ's Evergreen General Store is another fantastic advocate of our market and community, please remember that the 30-minute parking directly in front of the store is for their customers only.
And we kindly ask you to be considerate neighbors by parking only in designated areas. Note that the boating area has only four designated parking spots for market parking. Vehicles parked outside these four spots in the boating area may be ticketed by Parking Enforcement. Yikes!
Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you for another stellar market day!

Kitsap Harvest at the Market
The mission at Kitsap Harvest is to minimize produce waste and provide fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables directly to low-income housing, senior centers, recovery facilities, shelters, and soup kitchens within Kitsap County. The Grow-A-Row program bolsters this mission by inviting gardeners of all levels, from experts to enthusiasts, to cultivate and contribute surplus produce. Weekly donation stations are established throughout the county for collections, including at the Bremerton Community Farmers Market.
Engage in the fight against food insecurity and food waste by supporting the growth of Kitsap County's capacity for sustainable, community driven care. For additional details, visit Programs – Kitsap Harvest or inquire at the market's information booth.
REDUCE FOOD WASTE. DONATE FRESH PRODUCE.

Don't Forget Your Market Tokens
You know those market tokens you've been holding onto? Those tokens are MONEY! The $5 tokens are as good as cash, and all vendors accept them. The $1 tokens are exclusively for SNAP recipients and can be used for purchases typically made with an EBT card. If you have any SNAP Market Match coupons, don't leave them behind. We will honor expired ones, and they can be used with our produce farmers and produce reseller vendors. Bring those tokens to the market and shop!
