Pumpkin Painting at the Market

Pumpkin Painting at the Market

Thursday, October 1st, "officially" marks the opening day of Pumpkin Painting Season! Come by your farmers market from 3:30pm to 6:30pm and shop, find something delicious to eat, then get joyously serious about decorating mini pumpkins. Catalyst Public Schools will be on hand to assist artists of all ages. Bring the family out for this fun activity...we can't wait to see your artistic endeavors! Last year there was such a wide variety of decorated gourds...and we loved them all! The cost of the pumpkins are $2 a piece or three for $5 purchased at the Info Booth. Stickers and paint pens are provided to decorate your pumpkin.

Music at the Market

Agents of Vibration and Good Vibes Brigade are this week's Music at the Market musical entertainment.

Agents of Vibration is an ambulatory acoustic band playing music influenced by ska, jazz, funk, and Balkan brass bands. "Our goal is to build solidarity and spread joy through music." Good Vibes Brigade is a brass/woodwind combo playing upbeat, danceable Eastern European, pop, and funk tunes…intent on spreading good vibes!

Bring a lawn chair and grab dinner from one (or more) of the many onsite prepared food vendors...and don't miss these two fun groups!  As always, a huge thanks to Bremerton Typewriter Company for making Music at the Market possible!

Don't Miss this Next to the Last Market!

The forecast for your market is 65 degrees and cloudy...perfect weather for the first farmers market of October! This next-to-the-last market is jam-packed with over 55 vendors and community booths. The shopping includes fresh flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, pasture raised meats and eggs, artisan baked goods, handcrafted foods, honey, wine, mead, natural skincare, pottery, jewelry, artwork, photography, prepared food, and so much more. Come out and support our fabulous vendors...and as always, we will be at Evergreen Rotary Park, rain or shine!

Community Booths at the Market

Be sure and stop by one of the many community booths at the market this week:

  • Bremerton Boys & Girls Club - South Puget Sound - Boys & Girls Clubs give kids a place to call their own, where they can have fun, get a hot meal, be creative, be part of a team, get help with homework, and hang out with friends. They offer safe, fun, and inspiring places that kids and their families count on every day.

  • Catalyst Public Schools - An inclusive, Kindergarten through 12th grade* public school, free of tuition and admission requirements, serving the greater Bremerton region.

  • International Order of the Rainbow for Girls - Rainbow for Girls prepares girls for responsible and purposeful adulthood through character and leadership development.

  • Kitsap Fresh - Kitsap Fresh is a food hub and producer-owned cooperative providing an online marketplace where local farmers and producers sell and customers access source-identified products on the Kitsap Peninsula. In addition, Kitsap Fresh exists to support and develop new farmers, including non-traditional farmers.

  • Kitsap Harvest - Feeding families from front yards, food banks, farms, and...farmers markets. How can you help?

  • Kitsap Osprey Sports - Stop by the booth and support their fundraiser! The Kitsap Ospreys are a non-profit organization formed to provide Kitsap area boys and girls an opportunity to play baseball and softball at an advanced level. They strive to develop young athletes by building a passion for the game, teamwork, sportsmanship and character. The program emphasis is on player development, baseball/softball fundamentals and developing the skills to help players become competitive throughout their Little League and high school years.

  • League of Women Voters of Kitsap - In addition to registering voters, they work hard to educate the public with candidate forums and community education programs discussing topics that affect Kitsap County.

  • Renewal by Anderson - They pride themselves on providing an unparalleled window and patio door installation experience for homeowners in Bremerton. They offer consultation, installation, and service for their valued Bremerton customers and work to ensure every experience is a great one.

  • West Sound Roller Derby - They are dedicated to advancing flat track roller derby in a safe, supportive, and hardworking environment and embrace skaters of all skill levels, fostering a culture of respect, communication, and integrity—both on and off the track.

Your market tokens are MONEY! All vendors accept $5 tokens as cash. $1 tokens are for SNAP recipients and can be used like an EBT card. Bring any SNAP Market Match coupons, even expired ones...they're valid with produce vendors. Visit the market and don't forget your tokens!

Park it at the Market

We know finding a spot to park for the market isn't always easy so wanted to share a place to park you might not know about and a few places to watch out for.

Our neighbors just a couple blocks away on Park Street, Kitsap Community Resources (KCR), have very graciously allowed parking in their lot after 4:30pm. We greatly appreciate their generosity to us and our community where they do so much for so many!

CJ's Evergreen General Store is another fantastic advocate of our market and community, please remember that the 30-minute parking directly in front of the store is for their customers only.

And we kindly ask you to be considerate neighbors by parking only in designated areas. Note that the boating area has only four designated parking spots for market parking. Vehicles parked outside these four spots in the boating area may be ticketed by Parking Enforcement. Yikes!

Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you for another stellar market day!

Kitsap Harvest at the Market

The mission at Kitsap Harvest is to minimize produce waste and provide fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables directly to low-income housing, senior centers, recovery facilities, shelters, and soup kitchens within Kitsap County. The Grow-A-Row program bolsters this mission by inviting gardeners of all levels, from experts to enthusiasts, to cultivate and contribute surplus produce. Weekly donation stations are established throughout the county for collections, including at the Bremerton Community Farmers Market.

Engage in the fight against food insecurity and food waste by supporting the growth of Kitsap County's capacity for sustainable, community driven care. For additional details, visit Programs – Kitsap Harvest or inquire at the market's information booth.
