Meals on Wheels Kitsap (MOWK), founded in 1973, is a private, nonprofit organization providing healthy, nutritious meals and support for Kitsap County residents, aged 60 years and older. Primary program services include: home delivered meals; curbside meals to go; senior farmers market vouchers and fresh produce bags; nutrition education; dietary counseling; and telephone outreach.
MOWK’s “more than a meal” record of success in supporting seniors to live well while aging in place with good nutrition, independence, and dignity, is linked to strong community collaborations; working relationships with local health and social service agencies; partnerships with governmental entities; support from diverse funding sources; and invaluable contributions of committed staff and caring volunteers.
